The old sacred books say how the Raaghu and Kethu Planets came into being. According to Astrology, the effects of Raaghu planet is beyond normal measurement. The earth Planet is circling the sun Planet in a a looped circle and like wise Moon Planet also circles the Earth ( Mercury) Planet, The planet defire meets Earth twice when Moon comes in the way of the earth. While going upward at a particular angle and place, it is called Raaghu while Moon crosses earth at its lower base, it is called Kethu. In English. Raaghu is called “ Ascending Node’s and Kethu as’ Descending Node’. Therefore both Raaghu and Kethu are shadow planets only. Both these planets go round the earth one at the top and other at the bottom with difference 1800 in opposite direction, anti-clockwise
Saint Manickavasaga praised Lord Sive as owner of the entire South Zone and belonging to all the people residing in every nook and corner of the universe. What ever the saint might have meant by this, is considered appropriate to mean and to represents all the 274 sacred places dedicated to Lord Siva which places are not only sacred, but also full of plenty and prosperity. Among these, 127 temples are located on the southern side of the river Cauvery and the shrine at Thirunageswaram is the 47th place. the Chozha Nadu has many names such as Vala nadu, Chozha Chennai, Abaya Nadu, Killi Nadu, Sembiya Nadu, Akalanga Nadu, Peruneer Nadu,and Ponni Nadu, The place Thirunageswaram is at a distance of 6 Kms East of Kumbakonam. It is served by more than one river and canal, rich in soil and called granary of south India.This sacred shrine has many songs sung by three out of the four celebarated Nayanmars. Saint Sekkizhar is said to have lived in this place according to Umapathi Sivachariyar who praised Sekkizhar very grealy. At this place, Sekkizhar got scent of supreme Knowledge at the feet of the Lord Naganatha swamy. As a proof for this, the sculptures of Sekkizhar his mother Azhakambika and his brother Balaravayar are found installed inside the temple. This temple which was renovated by Sekkizhar lies on the North of river Arasalar and South West of Thiruvidaimarudhur. This palce is also called Senbagavanam, Girikannikaivanam etc., because Lord Raaghu worshipped Lord Naganathaswamy at this place it is known as Thirunageswaram.
